Speednames was for a long time my favorite shop for Danish domains. It was one of the first resellers to reach wide spread awareness here, and with a ton of purchases already locked up in their management system, they didn't have to work very hard to keep my business. Unfortunately, they didn't work at all.
Speednames rested too long. They're now considerably more inconvenient to use for registering Danish domains, as now require you to fill out and fax a paper form. They're also consistently more expensive with a .dk retailing at some 220 kr. forcing you to commit for two years upfront, while others will let you get away with one year starting at 109,- (or even 39,-, if you buy today).
Either you provide better service, lower prices, or more convenience. Or you decent into irrelevance is only determined by the time lag that exists until your customers figure this out.

Not to mention Speednames' renewal prices are insane. Their DNS interface is pretty good though, I'd love to see that service from all hosting providers.

I've been using and been quite happy with Buydomains.dk. Their identity isn't as strong and the interface for managing domains is slightly less intuative, but they're cheap, don't lock you in for two years, and don't require you to fill out dead tree to get a .dk domain.
It would be nice to hear about other domain retailers, though!

I'm curious about what happens if these smaller domain registrars goes out of business. What happens to your domain? Is this an issue?

It's not an issue. Not for local Danish domains, anyway. They're handled by something called DK-Hostmaster. Once the domain is registered, they're the one collecting the renewal fee.
I imagine that would be the case with international domains as well. If the company listed as register closes, they still have all the contact information on the real owner.

It actually depends on the honesty / business methods of the domain registrar. Usually you as an individual are placed as the owner of the domain, in which case you only need to find a new DNS supplier (all webhosts can do this) for your domain if your old DNS supplier goes the .com-way.
However some domain sellers (I believe Namezero fits this category) have taken the liberty of registering the domains in their own name, meaning you are not the owner of the domain, you merely borrow it from them. If such a company shuts down business, your only choice is basically to wait for the domain to expire so you can reregister it, if the company does not have the decency to close the domains down prematurely.
