Apple software bonanza

Steve Jobs is launching an onslaught of new applications from Apple to make the mac an even more amazing platform (yes, I'm currently in the Jobs Reality Distortion Field). There's so much new stuff coming out:

• Safari: New browser build on KHTML that'll be "three times faster than what most people uses" (IE). Tight integration with Google. Public beta available today. (free!)
• Keynote: PowerPoint is toast. Keynote is an amazing presentation program that includes an incredible array of cool looks. Import and use pictures from Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, etc. This is so, so cool. I can't wait to present my next school assignment from this. Imports PowerPoint files. Open XML file-based fileformat. $99 starting today
• iLife: iPhoto 2, iMovie 3, iDVD, iTunes all come together by using each other for adding music to your movies. And putting all the nay-sayers to shame, all the upgrades besides iDVD will be free! Looks pretty damn cool. iPhoto has a wealth of new super-easy (argh, I'm even starting to talk like him) features for making your photos better. Will be available on January 25th.
• Final Cut Express: A consumer version of the $999 Final Cut Pro for just $299 that gives you most every feature of the pro version, like instant color-correction and real-time effects.

Keynote is the trojan horse app for Apple. Once the Keynote-based presentations start making the rounds, PC users won't be able to keep up. Keynote is a big competitive advantage.
