It's been just over 48 hours since the first release of Rails was unveiled and more than 200 300 500 people have already downloaded the framework. While numbers are shallow, I'm really thrilled to see this take off so fast. Not even Instiki , which has a much broader appeal, took off that fast (although it has now been downloaded 2,418 times, which places 7th on the all time download list at RubyForge ).
But as I said, numbers are shallow. What's really making my day are all the overwhelmingly positive comments that are flowing in. It's quite a kick to hear people say they want to learn Ruby just to use Rails. Thank you all so much. I'll be sure to make the transition worth while.

As a C# developer absolutely in love with the language, I won't do a switch for some time. However, even without knowing one bit of Ruby, just looking at the examples, the setup video and the tutorials has me convinced that Rails is truly a masterpiece.
Even without using the framework I'm enthusiastic about it, so I can imagine how the developers actually using it must feel. Well done.

I have also looked at the same things as you Uffe. And I also did install it.
It truly the easiest web framework there is. Kudos to you David! And in the future, I am pretty sure that it's also going to be very powerful.
On the other part I have also dived into Ruby.
Well, see this as an excuse for not switching over. Of course, I will reconsider moving when Rails gets to v1.0. In the end, it really does not matter what you code in, as long as your job gets easier. Rails looks like REALLY easy and powerful.

I'm sorry to hear you feel such revolt with the def/end. I've grown to quite like it, but that's just me. Besides, if you're using a decent editor, you're not even going to do that much end-typing. Have a look at: http://media.nexangle.com/textmate/def_end.mov

Amir: well, just use {} instead of do..end :)
About possibility of the language.. well, you will find help on #ruby-lang @ irc.freenode.net or 0on the ruby-talk mailing list (cross mirrored to comp.lang.ruby).
Anyway luckily the ruby documentation problem is slowly going away (I started rubying two years ago and it was worst ;-)
