My proposal for a Ruby on Rails presentation at RubyConf has been accepted! I'm going to be sharing panel 4 early on October 2nd with Patrick May and Bill Atkins.
I'm especially pleased to share the panel with Bill Atkins as he has been one of the main contributors to Instiki. His talk is even about using the Instiki framework (an early fork of Action Pack) to "Create Elegant Web Applications".
Speaking of familiar faces, Jamis Buck is also going to be there. He did the first has_and_belongs_to_many implementation for Active Record and the SQLite-ruby interface that AR's SQLite adapter depends on.
He'll be talking about Copeland, his dependency injection container for Ruby. But I'm sure I'll be able to get him talking about his exciting new Net::SSH package as well — it's the ticket to SFTP support for Basecamp.
On top of that, the panels include talks by Jim Weirich (Rake — Make for Ruby), Nathaniel Talbott (Test/Unit), Hal Fulton (The Ruby Way), and many, many more.

I'd like to go to the conference--it's especially enticing since I live in D.C.--but I can't afford the entry fee, and my employer, a small non-profit, cannot, either.
Does anyone know of any reduced/free entrance options for non-profit workers or conference volunteers? I looked on the conference site, but I didn't find anything.
