I had been contemplating the move for a while. Debating back and worth whether it was worth moving away from always the same every where. But when Apple lowered their prices by about 1/4 yesterday, I did it. I bought the 23" Apple LCD.
And oh my. Oh my, indeed. It's freaking huge. And gorgeous. But mostly huge. I can fit a browser, TextMate, a terminal tailing the log, and CocoaMySQL on a single desktop! That's just productivity screaming out right there.
Of course, it does have one somewhat annoying dead pixel. A green one showing up on black, but I now keep the editor to the right and the browser to the left, so it's not noticeable in normal use.
Funny thing was that Rails friend Tobias Luetke ordered just today as well. Heh. They got a killer deal going on there. In Denmark, it's now an instant depreciation for companies (if you throw on a student discount).
Did I say it was huge?

Try to gently rub the deadpixel with your finger...press it lightly and rub a bit...cured a dead one on my powerbook...

I'd second mikkel's recommendation: massage it and don't fear to do it strongly and longly.

Mixin a little Desktop Manager (wsmanager.sourceforge.net) to increase your real-estate ten fold. With twelve desktops, I'm able to allocate one for each of my projects: 120 open windows -- no clutter.

you know what's funny about that resolution? I've got a dell (gasp!) laptop with a 15.4" widescreen display that also runs at 1920x1200. I thought it'd be great, but I now I wish that I had gotten the mid-res unit - at that screen size text is just too hard to read! Changing the Windows DPI settings makes things usable again (by increasing the size of chars), but unfortuantely that breaks a lot of GUIs.
I saw that display at the apple store the other day - it's beautiful! Just a tip to people out there: don't go near this resolution unless you've a large display!

Anyone out there who knows if you can use the cinema display with a dell laptop that only has vga output (i know you can get those vga2dvi cables, but does it work?). Please - no flamewars about my laptop ;-)
