The desk after the 23'' arrived

david, have you tried the wireless keyboard - or didn't work well enough? i'm considering the wireless keyboard, but i'm not too fond of the wireless mouse (which i find sluggish).

I know 23" is big but have you not considered also using your 17" laptop as a secondary screen next to it? Just seems like a waste if you don't use it.

After looking at the screenshot, I have to ask:
What's the menu extra called that looks like it nicely resizes windows to fit on the screen?
Or perhaps it's virtual desktop interface?

I think that you are referencing Desktop Manager [http://wsmanager.sourceforge.net/index.php]. It does not 'nicelly resize windows', but allows you to have multiple desktop environments running at once.

Was the screenshot taken at the same time of day as the picture of your setup? Why I'm asking is that my OS X setup is very similar down to the menu bar clock just showing the time (no date or am/pm). Mine is set to 12-hr but yours is set to 24-hr. I thought about setting my clock that way but decided I would probably be cognizant of AM/PM due to the sun (or absence thereof). But based on your pictures I instantly remembered some parts of the planet are bathed in sunlight well into PM - so 24-hr clock makes sense. All right, back to work.

Now I've got to ask what menu icon is immediately to the left and right of the Desktop Manager icon. To the left looks like an Ankh necklace and to the right looks like a black circle with 3 grey lines in it.
Can't help my curiosity about menu items as it's valuable screen real estate and if it worth putting on your screen, I want to see if it's worth putting on mine. Thanks.

Wow, that's the cleanest desk I've seen in a long time! At the risk of being an American Slob (I'm not actually, but you wouldn't know it from this pic :), here's the shot of my desk at this moment. It's messy as hell (but I did just do a fairly major re-org of my office, so still cleaning up).

Desktop Manager - Allows you to separate your workspace into separate views. You can decide what divisions work best for your workspaces. (ex: I have 'Coding', 'Communication', 'Work', and 'Personal'). Some people like this some people don't. It is worth looking into for its benefits though. [http://wsmanager.sourceforge.net/]

John: I like having one screen better. As a side-effect, Desktop Manager is more happy with just one screen.
